UFC 130 Final Results and Thoughts

May 28, 2011

Not much to talk about. Rampage rolled Hamill. Overall entertainment of the card was what I thought it would be. Came in with low expectations and got exactly that. At least I had a winning night betting.

3* Quinton “Rampage” Jackson -265 vs. Matt Hamill…WIN
3* Frank Mir -117 vs. Roy Nelson…WIN
1.5* Jorge Santiago +128 vs. Brian Stann…loss

UFC 130 Update

And I’m on the board! Mir looked a little gassed in there but Big Country looked like he was gonna die. Won’t lie, almost hedge my bet by getting Big Country at +700 after the second because Mir looked gassed. Super glad I didn’t.

3* Frank Mir vs. Roy Nelson -117
1.5* Jorge Santiago vs. Brian Stann +128…loss

Santiago vs. Stann wasn’t even close. Brian Stann totally outclassed him.

UFC 130 In Fight Thoughts

May 28, 2011

Why do I let my opinion get swayed by others? Was leaning on Tim Boestch originally. Let some experts sway me all the way to considering a play on Kendall Grove. Glad I didn’t. He got destroyed and Tim Boestch outclassed him. Like I originally thought.

UFC 130 First Impressions

May 28, 2011

Haven’t posted in a while; been tied up with baseball betting. Also, this card kind of blows. There isn’t one match I’m really excited for plus the lines for all the matches took forever to be released. Going to do a full review of the card tomorrow but my first impression leans are:

Rampage -250
Framk Mir -125
Jorge Santiago +140
Miguel Torres -120

The Miguel Torres line is jumping out at me and even though I hate him there seems to be money to be made there. Also, Jorge Santiago looks like a great dog play in my mind so far. We’ll see how the lines move and if watching film tomorrow morning changes my opinions.

Just some random thoughts from the night:

  • Perfect night for me. Super happy about that seeing how it was my first night back of posting picks on FoxDen.
  • There were some crazy highlight reel knockouts. I bet both Makdessi and Machida get KO bonuses. Ivan Menjivar’s standing crushing elbow knockout is gonna get the short end of the stick.
  • I’m not as impressed with Rory Macdonald as others are. He looked solid and all but if I was going to take anything from that fight it’s that Nate Diaz is having the same problems that Nick had. He’s too skinny and weak and will be until he grows into his body. Until then, he’s gonna get rag dolled against any strong fighter.
  • GSP Shields fight went just about exactly how I thought it would go. I still feel if GSP had both eyes, he would of taken Shields out in four.
  • Holy shit, the fight bonuses were $129k
  • Had to end with this. Machida’s Crane Kick, in my mind, is right up there with Showtimes Cage Wall Kick
